Originally built in 1927, the building operated as the George Wythe Hotel until the late 1960s/early 1970s. At that time, it became a bank. In 2010, after the last bank tenant left, the structure was purchased by Smith Enterprises. Locally raised Bill Smith restored the building’s original grandeur and christened the new establishment as the Bolling Wilson Hotel, named after Wytheville’s most prominent citizen, Edith Bolling Wilson (wife of President Woodrow Wilson).

Several charming boutiques and eateries are within walking distance, as is the weekly farmer’s market. The Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum, located directly across the street from the hotel, will provide context to her childhood as well as her marriage to Woodrow Wilson, our country’s 28th President.

You will not want to miss a visit to the rooftop terrace! It’s the perfect spot to take in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains and the charming storefronts of Main Street.
