Tan & Gray Fall Outfits
You don’t often see tan and gray combined, but what a soft and lovely neutral color palette. It works well for capsule wardrobe enthusiasts, as you can easily vary the tones of the neutrals that you choose to combine.
If you are new to trying this combination, try incorporating at least one piece that combines the colors for you, like this jacket or this scarf.
Everyday Casual
For an everyday casual outfit, try pairing a cabled sweater vest with jeans and topping with a camel jacket. The one shown here is a reversible combination of faux suede and faux sherpa. The bronze and chocolate tones of the boots and handbag add contrast.

For the Office
In this instance, the incredible coat is an outfit maker! The plaid easily blends numerous shades of tan and gray, allowing you to pick up any of those tones to combine in your outfit. Here I’ve shown an oatmeal turtleneck paired with dove gray trousers, letting the coat provide the contrast and interest.

A charcoal gray pair of trousers or a skirt would also work well and would make a gorgeous free-standing outfit, not dependent on the contrast from the jacket. Likewise, you could pair the lighter options with chocolate shoes, belt, and bag for a cohesive look, as shown below.

Night Out
For a night out, try a form-fitting sweater dress in camel paired with pewter heels and a pewter leather jacket with avant-garde vibes.

Until next time…keep cultivating a simple, stylish, and satisfying life!

Hi Betsy. Thank you for the great ideas in this post. We’re going to be taking a trip to Bogota, for a shopping trip, in the next couple weeks. Although tan isn’t really my color, I will be looking for some grey slacks. I’ve been wearing tops in shades of purple, recently, and I think adding grey slacks, instead of Jean’s all the time, would be a nice change. Also, I love pale pink with grey, so I’ll be looking for a light weight pink sweater. You never really need a heavy coat, here, so I’ll probably stick with my grey blazer, which is serving me well, here in Colombia. Xx
Have a wonderful time in Bogota! Like you, I have a hard time wearing tans. Very light oatmeal works the best but the more yellow/caramel colors…not so much. Love all shades of purple with gray and pink as well. Lavender tones have been some of my favorites in recent years! Thanks for commenting and stopping by.
