Resort Wear 2017: Casual Day Wear

Are you lucky enough to be heading somewhere warm this winter?  If so, it’s time to start thinking about resort wear.  In this 3-part series, we’ll be looking at casual day wear, swim and evening looks.  First up is casual day wear.  We’ve used a navy, sand and white color scheme throughout for better mix and match opportunities with the accessories.

Resort Shorts Look

Our first look pairs white side-button detail shorts with a chambray top and some brightly colored accessories.  It’s a look that will keep you cool but polished when out sightseeing.  If you’ve never tried colored sunnies before, try easing in with a deep blue pair.  They’re a bit easier to carry off than some lighter and brighter hues and this pair coordinates with all the outfits shown today.

Easter Egg-stravaganza

Hippity-hop-hop, hippity-hop-hop Easter’s on it’s way!

This silk dress by Joie hits just the right casual yet springy mark for Easter get-together’s. In the first look, the dress is styled for lunch at the club or an Easter buffet.  The neutral sandal keeps the lines simple and airy.  While the Weitzman Nudist sandal has become de rigueur on the red carpet, I prefer the more walk-able heel height of the 65mm Naked. Pick the shade that most closely matches your skin tone and this will be the only summer dress sandal you will ever need!
Dress Detail

The second look shows the dress as you might wear it for more casual entertaining at home.  Whether loosely belted or worn as a sheath, the dress paired with a midnight or white legging, low-heeled bootie, infinity scarf and leather clutch the look is still chic but more practical for running after kids at an egg hunt.

The lightweight silk fabric makes this piece great for travel!  Visualize it paired with a thin leather thong and straw tote (or one of the clutches above) for a resort dinner.
