Trendy Tuesday: Say Hey to the Fray

A super-fun trend this season is the frayed edge.  Mostly seen on jeans and white denim, this top (in black denim) seemed special to me for a couple of reasons: it’s not cropped, the black and white fringe is fun and can go either casual or a bit dressy and it’s a great price!

Always a freak for black and white ,I love the pattern play with the bold plaid pant and Ipanema sidewalk inspired cuff and earrings.  A chic suede mule and tasseled clutch are the finishing touches.

Pencil Me In

Modern boatneck mini stripe tee
The Brezza - M.GemiMarlo crossbody bag
Lusting after this Citizen’s of Humanity Karmen Pencil Skirt!  It’s a steep $188 but exactly what I’ve been searching for in  a denim skirt – a polished pencil cut, moderately dark wash and is getting good reviews.  Can think of so many ways to style this classic piece!  The spring look shown here pairs it with the Gap Modern Boatneck Mini-Stripe Tee (SALE $20), a Paisley Print Infinity Scarf from Etsy ($20), Raspberry Brezza Flats from M.Gemi ($248), the Everlane Swing Trench in Tan ($135) and the Marlo Cross-body Bag from J. Crew ($98).  Can see it for winter with black tights, booties and a chunky sweater; for summer with a white tee, white kicks and straw bag. Endless options!

Transitional Twill Topper

 The Cotton U-neck - Everlane

It can stay chilly in the Midwest until well into May but many of us are already thinking about spring and some transitional outfits.  The clean lines and beautiful drape of this cafe au lait twill coat lend it to both office and casual wear.  Styled here as a weekend outfit, I paired the coat with my new favorite jeans and a black tee.  The olive bootie-styled sandals look great with the blacks and denim but will be useful come summer paired with navy, tan or cream. The fun fringe bucket bag finishes the look!
