Earlier this summer we were at a local street market and came across a vendor selling Mexican chamoy candy. We treated ourselves to a pack and were instantly hooked! It is the perfect spicy/sweet combination, just bursting with flavor.

Curious about the candy, I was looking it up and came across this easy recipe (shared below) for making it at home. If you prefer to try it before making it yourself, you can find it at Mexican markets or online at Amazon.

Chamoy is a sauce made from fruits and chilis and can range from quite liquid to more of a paste consistency. Tajin is a chili-lime dry seasoning. Don’t worry, these aren’t overly hot, just a delectable sweet, spicy, salty combo that pairs perfectly with gummy fruit candy!

Ingredients

NOTE: Peach rings are very traditional and a favorite to use in this recipe, although you can technically make it with any gummy-style candy!

Instructions

  • Put gummy candies in a medium/large bowl.
  • Add 2 tablespoons chamoy sauce and 2 tablespoons of tajin seasoning.
  • Stir until completely coated.
  • Move the candy to a drying rack and allow them to dry for 1+ hours.
  • Once the candies are tacky, not wet, dust them in a mixture of the granulated sugar and the remaining 2 tablespoons of tajin seasoning.
  • Work in small batches for best results in coating with the sugar mixture.
  • Store in an airtight container or zip-lock bag.
