All three options below are great for both those staying on the island for an extended time and those landing in port for just a few hours.

10 Experiences Tour

The 10 Experiences Tour is a splurge experience that will have you delightfully reminiscing for days! Owners Lorena Sanroman and Chef Alejandro Torres have created an unforgettable multi-sensory gastronomic encounter. You will travel through 10 distinct regions of Mexico, while enjoying food and drink representative of each area.

From the moment we entered the owner’s beautiful home, we knew that we were in for a special night. Chef Torres, a Zagat award-winner, sent out 10 original, exquisitely prepared, and plated courses accompanied by a thoughtful assortment of beverages tied to each of the regions represented.

Our guide, Adrian, explained each course and taught us so much about the history and culture of each of the regions. We’ve happily added several new destinations to our “to visit” list.

The 10 Experiences Tour website claims to deliver “a meal unlike any you’ve had before“. As self-proclaimed foodies, we assure you they fully deliver on this claim. Truly, one moment in particular, shocked our tastebuds so that we were reeling with delight! It isn’t easy to treat two well-traveled, mid-50 year-olds to a revolutionary experience! You’ll need to book your own sitting to find out what it was!

Phase II and III tours to additional regions are being added in 2024 and a less expensive taco experience is also offered. Bookings for both are available at noon and 6 PM most days. Customer service and communication with 10 Experiences was top-notch, before and after our event!

Cozumel Chef Cooking Classes

Cozumel Chef offers two tours on Cozumel that will give you incredible insight into the day-to-day life of the residents of this beautiful island. If you opt for the cooking class, you will visit a local market and then return to your chef’s home for a delicious feast representative of the typical dishes of Cozumel.

Mercado Municipal, Cozumel
Tortillas hot off the press!

On our recent tour, we were treated to over 10 dishes, each more flavorful than the next. It was impressive how Jeronimo could whip up so many things in such a short time. We even got to participate in creating a couple of the dishes! And we learned so much about the fishing industry in Cozumel, the herbs/spices used for both flavor and medicinal purposes, etc.

On the food tour, which we hope to try on our next visit, you again visit the local Mercado. Next, you’ll enjoy a few treats at local stands in the downtown area. You’ll finish your experience with a meal at a cocina economica! In these “affordable kitchens”, you’ll be surrounded by locals eating their mid-day meal.

NOTE: Cozumel Chef also offers tours and classes in Playa del Carmen and Tulum.

With our host and chef, Jeronimo!

Amistad Spanish School

If you are visiting Cozumel for an extended period, you may want to consider polishing your Spanish language skills at the Amistad Spanish School!

Located in downtown San Miguel de Cozumel, the Amistad School offers full immersion courses and private, in-person lessons. The immersion course has a minimum 15-hour commitment (5 days M-F, 3 hours/day) and includes 3 cultural excursions with classroom instruction.

If you are in Cozumel for the day as part of a cruise, private lessons are available as 55-minute, one-on-one, sessions for the utmost in personalized attention. The classroom is right downtown and if you wish to continue your studies back home, Amistad also offers private lessons via Zoom. Learning the language is a great way to connect with the culture of Mexico!
