3 Ways to Style Linen Pants

Linen pants are a popular choice for spring break travel as well as for wear during the summer months! Today I’ve got 3 ideas for how you can rock this look on your next holiday or over the summer months.

Linen pants come in many different styles, shorts, crops, wide-leg, cargo, joggers, etc. Choose a style that complements your body type and works for your lifestyle.

When it comes to color selection, once again, options are limitless. In my opinion, basic black/navy or lighter, beach-inspired tones (white, cream, sand, taupe, grey) are the most versatile. If selecting lighter-colored linens, test them in different lights and take a careful look at the back view to ensure you aren’t getting any undie or cellulite see-through.

Linen Pants as Part of a Matched Set

Linen pants look great paired with linen tops! Whether you choose monochromatic tones as I did here or contrasting/complementary pieces, a linen-linen combination works with shorts, crops, and long pants alike.

Crops and a tank make a chic combination for lounging or sightseeing.

Shorts with a camp shirt work on their own or, for a more skin-bearing look, wear the camp shirt unbuttoned over a swim top or tank.

For a casual, elegant resort dinner, pair wide-leg trousers with the same color tank.

For lunch or beach-combing, try rolling your linen pants at the hem and pair with a textured loosely knit sweater of cotton, silk, linen or a blend of these

For a dressier resort look, try pairing a wide-leg linen trouser with a sleek top or bodysuit. I love the soft colors in the palette below, just perfect for a beachside dinner by moonlight!

If, like me, you’re prone to spills, this classic black look may work better.

More Tips for Styling Linen Pants

• Linen is strictly a summer/warm-climate fabric. Keep this in mind with your fabric pairings. Linen will look best when paired with cotton, silk, denim, and very, very lightweight, loosely woven wool.
• Likewise, keep your shoe pairings with linen, light feeling. For instance, sneakers, sandals, espadrilles, slides, mules. Stay away from heavier leathers like pumps and boots/booties.
• Canvas, straw, raffia, and light, woven leather handbags work well with linen fabrics.
• Accessorize with classic metals, straw, wood and even acrylic/resin jewelry.
