Holiday Entertaining: Cocktail Christmas Tree πŸŽ„

The holiday season is coming up quickly. Surprise your guests with a cocktail Christmas tree this year! They’re easy to make and work well for the start of a party as an icebreaker, or at the end with some cookies and sweets.

Cocktail Christmas Trees: Step by Step

First, select your tree base. I’ve used my grandmother’s wooden dowel, Scandanavian Christmas tree as a base but you could use a small, traditional Christmas tree or a wall-mount style tree.

Next, fill your ornaments! A few options include:

  • Mixing up a festive martini! For those that use perishable ingredients, be sure to keep your ornaments refrigerated until right before serving.
  • Filling the ornaments with after-dinner spirits that blend well with coffee like Kahlua, Amaretto, Frangelico, Grand Marnier, or Godiva. That’s what I’ve done in this post.
  • Making your favorite cocoa blend for kids and non-alcohol drinkers.
Tips:

When filling your ornaments, use a little funnel to keep things neat.

Muffin tins work well for balancing the ornaments while filling.

Decorate your tree with a mix of filled and traditional ornaments.

Add some martini glasses and sugar for the rim if you’re planning to use the tree for welcome drinks. For dessert, add a cookie plate, some chocolates, and a carafe filled with hot coffee (or hot water for cocoa).
