Favorite Flank Steak Recipe: Spicy Flank Steak
Ingredients
- 1 flank steak (1.5-2 pounds)
- 2-3 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 -1 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Preparation
Tenderize steak with a meat mallet then rub both sides evenly with vegetable oil.

Stir together all spices (7 ingredients total) and rub the mixture evenly over both sides of the steak. Let stand for 10 minutes.

Grill, covered with grill lid, over medium-high heat (350-400 degrees) for 5 to 7 minutes on each side or until steak reaches desired level of doneness. Remove from grill, cover loosely with aluminum foil and let rest for 10 minutes. Cut across the grain into thin slices.
Serves 4-6.

Serving Suggestions
On weeknights, we typically pair this with grilled vegetables, a salad, coleslaw, or a selection of mixed fruit. For guests (or if you are looking for something a bit heartier) roasted fingerling or red potatoes make for a wonderful accompaniment. Alternately, use the sliced steak in tortillas with some guacamole and other fixings!

Try some of our other summer favorites like Mediterranean-inspired couscous salad or citrus-marinated pork.
