Easy Valentine’s Day Tablescape

Similar to my wardrobe philosophy, I tend to focus on home decor items that offer some versatility in how they can be used. One of my reliable go-to’s is an apothecary jar. You can fill them with a variety of season items (pine cones, candy, ornaments, etc.) or day to day items like pasta, legumes, and coffee beans.

I couldn’t find multi-colored felt balls that were individually packaged. However, I was able to buy two strands and cutting the string to separate the balls. From there it was easy to divide the fill among the three jars.

JoAnn’s was my source for the pink table runner, napkins, and heart-shaped salad/dessert plates. The runner is double-sided with a large, buffalo check on one side and a gingham check on the other. For Valentine’s Day, I chose the buffalo checks and when Easter rolls around, I’ll use the gingham side.

Our everyday dishes (Mikasa’s Italian Countryside) served as the base for the heart plates. Twenty years later and I still LOVE these plates. The ribbing on the rim gives a bit of interest but they are neutral enough to combine with any other decore. And food tends to look it’s best when served on white or cream!
