It’s been 12 years since I last had a dad to celebrate Father’s Day with. The final time we saw him was actually during a trip to South Carolina that we made over Father’s Day weekend in June, 2008. He was diagnosed with cancer a few days after we left and was gone three weeks later.
A lifelong boater, he always liked nautical-related gifts, books, some gadgets, and food/snack items. When we’d visit, I’d often bring down a frozen tub of the old New York Spaghetti House’s “brown sauce”. It was a classic Cleveland institution and the brown sauce made its way into two camps. Those who loved and those who didn’t. Daddy loved it!

Men can be so tough to shop for, am I right? Luckily, Natty Guy and I are taking the guesswork out of shopping for you this year with the Father’s Day finds shown below.
Sensational Splurges
Pellet smokers offer all the great, rich smoky flavors of a traditional smoker but with a fraction of the work. And the Traeger is the MacDaddy of pellet smokers. Just set your desired temperature and forget it. So easy, you can even do it from your phone.
The DJI Mavic Mini drone is Natty Guy’s new favorite toy! What makes this drone unique is its incredible light weight. At just 249 grams, you don’t need to register this guy with the FAA (required at 250g). The price point is also good for a drone of this quality. You get 30 minutes of flight time, a 3-axis gimbal, and 2.7k camera. Great for travel videos or flights over the neighborhood and fun for the kids as well!
At first glance, this battery-powered leaf blower may seem a bit utilitarian but Natty Guy uses his literally every day. It’s so much lighter and more convenient for blowing off the patio right before we sit out. And unlike our gas-powered blower, it doesn’t leave him smelling like a fuel pump!
Mid-Range Gadgets & Gifts
If you have and LOVE a Ring doorbell, consider adding on a ring camera or two for outdoor surveillance. This model is so tiny! We put it outside an upstairs window and the fish-eye lens covers nearly the entire back yard. We love being able to keep an eye on Dolce (our pup) right from our phone or PC.
Make outdoor living all the more fun with a sleek Bluetooth speaker and some Edison-style party lights!
Who can resist a sentimental gift? Minted has a wide-variety of custom-framed photo collages so dad can have the kids nearby even while at the office.
Under $50 Finds
I’ve posted these WiFi smart plugs before because we are obsessed with them. We’ve linked up multiple indoor and outdoor lights, the coffee maker, etc. and can now control them all from our phone. So fun and convenient.
Tervis tumblers are great year-round, and even more so during the summer. The insulated plastic ensures you’ll have no breaks on your patio and that your beverage will always stay cool. Lids keep the spills at bay and there are a huge number of patterns/logos to choose from. These gourmet snack baskets are another great treat for patio time! Wine and cheese, nuts and beer, mojitos and salsas are all favorite combos at our house.
If your dad is a clothes horse, encourage him to reminisce with a classic band tee from one of his favorite musical groups.
Hope you’ve enjoyed these Father’s Day finds! For more gift ideas, check out these posts. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you on Friday!
