Adidas recently reached out to a group of bloggers to learn more about how they were staying healthy by working out at home. I was thrilled to be included as my home workouts have done so much to help alleviate the stress and tension of these past few weeks of quarantine! Even better, they’re all low cost or even FREE!

Healthy at Home: My Three Favorite Workouts
Running/Walking
Since we’ve been living under stay at home orders, I’ve been turning to aerobic exercise more often than weight work. It does so much to lift your mood and release stress!
We’re fortunate to have a home gym in our basement and I use the treadmill there on the many days that it’s still too cold or rainy to be outside (#ohiolife). When I can, I love going for long walks or runs in the Metropark system located near our house. Being outdoors always boosts the spirits and the many steep hills add a little extra glute work. Need some arm toning? Carry along a 15-pound Bichon! 😂

Barre Work
If you’ve been following Natty Gal for a while, you may recall that I am a big fan of the Suzanne Bowen barre series. (See this post and this post for reviews.) The high repetitions and micromovements ensure that you will feel the burn!
If you don’t have a portable or mounted ballet barre, a sturdy, straight-back chair works just as well. No weights? Use water bottles. You can fill them with water, sand or small rocks to get varying amounts of resistance.

Dancing
Now that we’re at home every weekend, we’ve replaced our Friday night happy hour and dinner routine with take-out and a dance party! Sometimes we’ll play our favorites, other times we’ll pick a theme for the night like 80’s music or disco. No matter the genre, we usually end up laughing ourselves silly and getting in a halfway decent workout in the process!
“Dance like nobody’s watching; love like you’ve never been hurt. Sing like nobody’s listening; live like it’s heaven on earth.”
Mark Twain
That’s it for my three favorite workouts! Now it’s your turn. What do you do to stay healthy while you’re at home? Let me know in the comments below!
🛒-Worthy Apparel
I’ve been loving the blush and pinky-peach tones shown in the adidas spring line! From workout wear to lounge looks, a few current faves are shown below. The all white Stan Smith sneaker is a wardrobe essential that you can pair with everything from lounge wear to jeans to skirts!

Until next time…keep cultivating a simple, stylish, and satisfying life!
Hi Betsy. We’re still here in Chiatura, Georgia and since there is no gym here, we bought equipment in Tbilisi, back in November and had it delivered to our apartment in Chiatura. I try to run, everyday on my treadmill, and we also both use the crossover machine, which gives us a full-body workout. We’ve even designed a space in the new apartment for our gym equipment. Hope you are doing well and that someday, soon you’ll be able to make that trip to Ecuador. xx
Hi there! So good to hear from you and glad that you’re still able to get some workouts in. They’re not always fun when you start them but they do help with the stress/mental outlook so much. Regarding Ecuador, we too hope we can reschedule soon. If there is a window in the fall, we may try that but as of now, and with what the US is predicting, it sounds like next spring may be the more realistic alternative. Hope you will be able to explore around Europe again soon too. Stay healthy! XO
