The temps are still warm this week but I’ve been wanting to start to add a few fall touches to my outfits. Enter the low boots and plaid scarf that I’ve paired with one of my summertime staples, a chambray shirt dress.

I typically wear this dress without a belt but wanted to mix things up a bit for this OOTD. The obi or wrap style is very versatile, but after seeing these photos, I’m thinking I may exchange this belt for one that is slightly narrower. A slightly narrower belt (think 2-2 ¼” instead of the 2 ¾ shown here) would make me look a bit less short-waisted. Love that they can be tied a number of ways and adjust easily to minor weight fluctuations!

Transitional Fall Outfit: Three Ways to Style
This is the look I’m wearing in the photos above. It’s great for warmer fall days and the scarf comes in handy during the cooler mornings and evenings!

Old Navy chambray shirt dress | ADA Collection Obi belt | Sam Edelman Petty boot | Plaid scarf – old (similar) | Tory Burch tote – old (similar)
The next two looks will be perfect when the temps drop just a little bit more! The first of the warmer styles features a chunky cardigan in an on-trend color and a pair of tonal, but very detailed, cowboy boots. A dark hobo bag and caramel colored hat complete the outfit!

Madewell Bobble cardigan | LANE Sweet Paisley boot | Sole Society wide brim hat | Frye small Melissa bag
This final look is comprised completely of Core Closet Essentials (save the shoes and bag). Layer a light long-sleeve tee under the dress and a utility vest on top. It’s the kind of base outfit you can wear for years, just update your shoes/boots or other accessories to fit a trend from the current season.

Thanks so much for your likes, shares, and follows! Until next time,
I love what you did with the scarf and wore it as an outerwear. I actually though it was an outerwear prior to reading your post. The belt is a nice added touch of sophistication to your outfit. I love the color too!

Thanks so much! Your kind words just made my day! 😘
I love this dress and the different looks that you’ve put together! I’m glad to see someone else wearing a dress above the knee. I’m so tired of that mid length, that can be so difficult to walk in. I’m going to look for a pair of ankle boots like those. I love the heel and the boot’s versatility. Thanks for sharing Betsy. You always show such inspiring styles.
Thanks so much! I LOVE the Petty boots, they’re really comfortable and hold up well. And, yeah – I get tangled up in longer skirts when I walk all the time!
Waiting patiently for layers time: today it is comfortable with jeans and I actually had goose bumps with the wind, fall is coming!

Yes, same here! Days are still quite warm but mornings and evenings are chilly. Thanks for stopping by!
I love obi belts! I haven’t worn mine in quite a while. This outfit is adorable and I am totally crushing on your pink plaid scarf!

Thanks so much! This is the first obi I’ve tried but they make so much sense for dresses, jumpsuits and anything else without belt hooks!
