Hey there, friends! Can you believe it’s the last day of May!?! 2019 keeps rolling along at an epic pace. Good time to share a few updates on life as well as an ingenious new tech find – EMBR Wave!
The month of May has been fun (lots of events and get-togethers) but also a bit rough. I’ve been fighting a CAT-5 spring cold since Mother’s Day and it just won’t end. Fever. Chills. Headaches. Sore Throat. Laryngitis. Convulsive Coughing. It’s truly the Superfecta of viruses and I feel like I’ve been saying “just another day or two and I should be back to 100%” for about 12 days now. Thank you shout-out to Natty Guy for putting up with me. I’ve been a complete beast to live with these past few weeks!
In last year’s puppy loss grief, we somehow missed the entire planting season. So this year we’ve been especially excited for and appreciative of having some color around the house. Below is mini-tour of some of our baskets and planters!
We spent Memorial Day at my sister and brother-in-law’s house where they hosted a fantastic celebration for the May birthday group. Fantastic entertainers, they prepared an incredible multi-course, slow-food Italian feast with the Osso Buco and roasted veggies below as the entree highlight. My other sister-in-law made the beautiful cheese board. An incredible treat for all of us!
My brother-in-law is incredible with landscape design and ideas and while we were enjoying our feast, I noticed this display he had set into the knots and holes of a tree near the table. Isn’t it gorgeous?
In other news, I celebrated a birthday this week and am now no longer just sticking a toe in, but am firmly entrenched in my 50’s. And it’s feeling like a really good decade! Looking back on this post, I’d say the thoughts expressed still hold true. Life as you age becomes far less about how others perceive you and so much more about how you perceive yourself.
Finally, May also took us on a fun car club trip to Western Pennsylvania! I look forward to sharing the details of that adventure in a few weeks.
Friday Favorite: EMBR Wave
Recently one of my blogging friends wrote about her new partnership with EMBR Wave and when I took a look at the web-site, thought it would be a great, gift-able gadget for the thermally challenged loved ones in your life.
This wearable piece resembles an Apple watch but applies heating/cooling technology to a small, sensitive body area (the wrist) which in turn, sends a signal to the brain that triggers a thermo-regulation response that then transfers the feeling of cool or warmth to your whole body.
It was developed as part of a student project at MIT. Students noticed how inefficient AC systems were in classrooms. They cost a lot to run and often times the rooms sat empty or occupants were forced to put on sweatshirts as the rooms grew too cold throughout the day. By creating a wearable thermal prototype, they found they could drastically reduce energy use and keep more people in range of their personal comfort levels.
While at $299, it’s not cheap, reviews are overwhelmingly positive! And if effective, it should off-set some of your at home heating/cooling costs. EMBR offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, one year warranty and 2-3 day battery life on a single charge. What a game changer for those who experience either chronic cold due to circulatory issues or heat from hot flashes! We already have some people in mind that this would be perfect for.
Thanks for dropping by today! Hope June marks the start of a fun and fabulous summer for all of you. Until next time,

Happy Birhtday!!! So glad to have met you online. Your flowering baskets look great! And that device sounds very interesting but yes it is pricey. But who knows it may come down and be a common thing to use? Looking forward to Summer! Take care!
Thanks so much Carrie and same to you! Still hoping we can meet one day for some wine! Yes, I’m going to keep looking for specials on it – have a few people (mostly with circulatory issues/always feeling cold) that it would be great for! Happy June!
