Elizabeth Suzann has been on my radar for awhile now but I’ve always hesitated to place an order. This is largely because her items are both pretty expensive and have quite long manufacture lead times. But when the Alabama Chanin x Elizabeth Suzann collection came out early this spring, I knew the time was right to pull the trigger. First, this cotton collection was at a slightly lower price point. I LOVED the style of most everything in the group. Lastly, the products were pre-cut so it was possible to receive an order in just a week to ten days (much shorter than the typical lead time).

About My OOTD
I purchased the Marlena dress in black. It’s a true wardrobe staple and the kind of garment I could live in seven days a week, three seasons out of the year. The cotton is very thick, plush and drapes well – just skimming over the body but never clinging. The neckline is designed so it can be worn with the either the crew or v-neck in back, giving two distinct looks and making it a great piece for travel.
While the collection is now sold out, I’ve linked the similar Polly dress in linen below. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list as the collaboration is ongoing. Collection updates should be released either this summer or fall and subscribers are among the first to know!

It’s super easy to mix up the look of this dress! Try putting a tee underneath and pairing with sneakers for a casual summer look. Or pull a boxy, cropped sweater over top and combine with boots for fall. Layer a jacket on top or a turtleneck underneath. Dress it up with some jewelry or keep it casual and pair with a scarf. So many options!

Elizabeth Suzann is an ethical clothing company based in Nashville, TN. Their garments are all cut and sewn in a local design studio out of natural fabrics: linen, silk, wool and cotton. The aesthetic is similar to the more well known label, Eileen Fisher: simple, linear, size-inclusive cuts in superior fabrics. The company is very committed to the fewer/better things philosophy that so many capsule wardrobe enthusiasts follow and long time customers tout the clothing for it’s exceptional comfort and durability.
About Alabama Chanin
The Alabama Chanin factory is based in Florence, Alabama and features clothing, accessories, home goods and more. Products feature 100% organic cotton and are all locally or regionally made right in the US. They also offer a DIY School of Making that offers a variety of popular workshops as well as on-site cafe.
Both companies would make fun destinations on a trip to either Nashville or Florence! I’m certainly planning to add them to my “places to see” list when in town.
