Woo-hoo, for many of us it’s spring break time and you know what that means – resort wear! This year we spent our winter break in Belize. It’s a super-casual place so I left my resort dresses at home and focused on more casual pieces for this low-key getaway.
Blogger Confession: The sun sets early in Belize and we were traveling with friends, having WAY too much fun during the day. Consequently, no time for photos, so recreated my looks back at home. In a few weeks I’ll be sharing our trip experiences and you can expect some jungle and beach scenery then!

Resort Casual Sunset Cocktails
In my late teens, and early 20’s the store Express was one of my favorites. Then for a spell, I felt it got too trendy and young for my taste. Well, in recent years I’ve rediscovered them as a fantastic source for reasonably priced trend pieces, especially go-out tops and everyday tees.
For a casual cocktail look, I paired an Express striped high-neck halter with my wide leg crops from Madewell. The tops runs large – I’d recommend sizing down one full size. Add a neutral slide (similar shown here) and clutch and bring on that coconut mojito!
The many colors in this top make it easy to pair with quite a few things – picture it with a black skirt or a bright, coordinating tone of walking short.

Resort Casual Strolling in Town
For strolling in town, I went even more casual, pairing the wide leg crops with a simple tie-front white tee, some colorful flat mules and bright, chunky beaded jewelry. I’m really starting to love the wide leg profile – so much lighter and more beachy feeling than the typical skinny-jean look!

sounds like it would have been a wonderful trip! I used to think the same with Express, at one point I thought too young or someting. Now, I have some of their tops and I like the dresses too. Love the colors in this halter, ive bought a few halters for summer myself. Great looking jeans too, this style is adorable!
Happy Easter!

Thanks so much, Jess! It’s funny how stores go through phases. I’ve come across a few now that fell out of favor for a while only to fall back in favor at another point. Glad you’ve found some good Express buys as well!
