Baby Foot has been on my radar for while but I’ve never been able to find a proper time to try it until now.
Each fall I give my toes a much needed break from the polish/remover cycle that I put them through so rigorously every spring and summer. This year I decided that while taking my normal fall polish break, I’d also up the ante by trying out the Baby Foot foot peel, aka “Zombie” pedicure. Appropriate for October, don’t you think?

What is Baby Foot?
Baby Foot is an at-home foot peel designed to eliminate dead skin, cracks and peeling on the feet. It’s available online and at select Target stores.
The product launched in Japan in 1997 and developed a cult following. In 2012 it was introduced to the US market and by 2016 was available nationwide via Ulta and Target stores as well as on the Baby Foot website.
The AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids) in the peel loosen the adhesive tissue between layers of dead skin causing the foot to peel and revealing the underlying healthy skin. It is safe enough to use every two weeks but you won’t need it any where near that often.
How to Use Baby Foot
I read tons of reviews and testimonials on Baby Foot before trying the product and as a result, came up with this process for achieving the best outcome:
- Soak your feet in warm water for at least 15 minutes prior to applying Baby Foot. If very dry, rough skin up with a pumice stone. Dry thoroughly.
- Cut open the Baby Foot booties and slip your feet into the bags. Seal with the provided ties, or as I did, with rubber bands. I took the additional step of put socks on over the Baby Foot booties so that it would be easier to walk around and so that it would increase the amount of contact the solution had with my feet.
- Leave feet in the boots for 60 minutes. Over-achiever that I am, I actually wore mine for 75 minutes and have heard of some users going as long as 90 minutes. Plan to do some reading or TV watching during this time. Scampering around in the booties is not recommended.
- Remove booties and thoroughly wash all solution from skin.
- Wait (patiently) for skin to begin to peel. To aid with the process, consider soaking feet in warm water once a day for 15 minutes. I began to notice light peeling on the top of my foot first at about 4 days post application. Peak peeling took place at about 10 days and was complete by 14 days. Give. It. Time.
As I post this photo, I can’t help but think of how horrified my grandmother would be. “You posted a photo of your nasty, peeling feet for all the world to see?”. Ugh. Hopefully her disappointment would be offset by the fact that I’m blogging – she always wanted me to be a writer.

Incredible! Amazing! Awe-inspiring! There is not a trace of callous or dry skin on my feet. It’s definitely a treatment that will remain in my fall rotation. I may even try it twice a year if I can time it properly in the spring.
To maintain my now buttery-smooth feet I am using CeraVe SA. I’m a huge fan of CeraVe products in general. While they don’t offer sexy packaging or exotic scents, they are as effective as all get out. The SA in this product stands for salicylic acid and that, along with lactic acid, is what prevents dead skin from building back up on your feet and will help keep them soft and supple.
