Shoe & Jewelry Trends for Spring 2017

Today’s post will wrap-up our spring trend coverage for 2017 with a focus on shoe & jewelry trends!  If you missed the first two segments, catch them here and here.

Shoes

Below are a few of the top shoe trends for spring 2017.  If you’d like to try some of the more outrageous styles without busting your budget, try looking at Zara, Asos and Mango.

Thick Heels

Heels have been running a bit thicker for the past couple of seasons and that trend is holding this spring.  It’s also an easy style for most everyone to wear!

Mules/Moroccan Slippers/Slides

Mules and slides were also big last summer.  The most current versions offer a closed toe per the classic “Moroccan slipper” style.

Flatforms

The newest form of a wedge!

Embellishments/Pom Poms

As with clothing and handbags, embellishment is the word of the moment.  If you like to spend, Isa Tapia has some lovely pieces in this category.  Pom poms seemed to be particularly prevalent.

Jewelry

On the runway, earrings were HUGE, and IMHO, slightly ridiculous. Maybe it’s just the fact that I have a small head but I couldn’t pull this off if my life depended on it.  Not to mention the fact that they look like they’d hurt.

Jewelry Trend: Oversized Earrings

A little more wearable, is the mismatched earring trend.  While you can go pretty large and bold a la the Holly Dyment earrings, you can also adapt with a more subtle stud or drop style.

While I’m still seeing a lot of chokers in stores, official word says that trend is over and long pendants will be leading the way in 2017.  Rose gold will continue to be big as will charms and layering in both bracelets and necklaces.  Art Deco styles and enameling will see an upswing.
